July Energy Tips: Planting Trees for Energy Savings

Thinking of planting some trees in your yard this summer?

If the answer is yes, giving some thought about where to put them could help reduce your energy bill. Not only are trees beautiful, but shading is the most cost-effective way to reduce heat gain from the sun – a good thing in the summer.

CEC Director Election Announcement

Central Electric Cooperative's (CEC's) annual director election opens on July 17, 2020.

To administer the election, CEC has partnered with Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS). This partnership ensures that members' votes are secure, accurate, and anonymous to CEC. It also allows CEC to offer innovative ways to vote.

Over the next few weeks, members will be receiving a variety of communications from CEC and SBS explaining how to vote. To ensure you receive the electronic communications, please add noreply@directvote.net to your approved list of email contacts.

Heating and cooling costs account for around half of a user’s energy bill according to the U.S. Department of Energy. So when it comes to reducing energy use and cutting home energy costs, the most impact can be made by programming the thermostat. CEC Announces Peak Alert Season

June 1 marks the beginning of Peak Alert season for Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) members. Radio and website announcements will be issued when electric demand is highest on hot, humid weekday afternoons. 


By decreasing electricity used during high-demand periods -- when prices are at their highest -- everyone can help stabilize future power costs for all members.
