COVID-19 Resources

Wednesday | March 25, 2020

As we all deal with the new realities brought on by the coronavirus (or COVID-19), Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) wants to assure you that we are here to help. Early in this crisis, CEC staff updated our Emergency Plan with a special emphasis on ensuring we can continue to provide the reliable electric service you have come to expect from your electric cooperative.

So far, that is exactly what has happened. CEC knows that after a sufficient supply of food and water, electricity is the No. 1 thing you need to maintain some sense of normalcy as we all hunker down in our homes. With that in mind, keeping the power flowing is Job #1 for everyone involved in maintaining the electric cooperative system.

CEC is taking steps now to be prepared in the event there is a significant impact from the coronavirus in our communities.

We are focused on maintaining a healthy workforce, and keeping key personnel — such as line workers and member service representatives — available so that we can continue to provide the excellent service you expect from us.

To help your local communities reduce the spreading of the virus, and encourage social distancing, please follow these guidelines:

CEC members should be on the lookout for suspicious emails, phone calls, or persons impersonating business employees or charitable organizations. Unfortunately, scammers take advantage of opportunities such as this when households are otherwise preoccupied. If you get a call from someone claiming to represent CEC, and they make threats or demand immediate payment, hang up and call CEC at 800-521-0570.

Please stay safe and know that CEC will continue to operate and provide the highest-quality service possible for you, the members we serve. The spread of COVID-19 may necessitate changes in how we interact, but it will not change what we do. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Stay healthy, stay home, and we will get through this together – the cooperative way!
